Why am I receiving an "EAC Banned" error in Rust?
If you receive an "EAC Banned" message when attempting to connect to a Rust server, your Steam account has been game banned through the Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) system for a cheating-related violation.
This ban prevents your account from playing Rust on EAC-secured servers.
Are EAC bans permanent?
EAC bans are permanent unless overturned through the appropriate review process.
Easy Anti-Cheat maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward cheating. Bans are not removed simply because a player disputes the decision or requests another opportunity to play.
If an EAC ban is determined to have been issued incorrectly, it may be reversed. However, submitting a support ticket or appeal does not guarantee that a ban will be removed.
Facepunch Support cannot independently overturn EAC-issued bans, review EAC's findings, or expedite the appeals process.
If you believe your ban was issued incorrectly, please refer to EAC's account suspension policies and ban appeal process.
What if my Steam account was stolen or compromised?
Account holders are responsible for maintaining the security of their Steam accounts and any activity that takes place on them.
If your account was stolen or compromised and subsequently used to cheat, this does not exempt the account from enforcement action or automatically qualify the ban for removal.
If you believe your Steam account has been compromised, please review Steam's Account Security Recommendations and take the necessary steps to secure your account.
Why won't you provide details about my ban?
We do not disclose the specific cheats, software, or detection methods that resulted in an account ban.
Releasing this information would benefit cheat developers by allowing them to better understand and potentially circumvent anti-cheat detection systems.
For this reason, we do not provide individual detection records, evidence, or technical details regarding how a ban was issued.
Why was I banned when I wasn't cheating or wasn't online?
EAC bans may be issued on a delay rather than immediately when a violation is detected.
This means the ban may take effect hours or days after the activity that triggered it. You do not need to be actively playing Rust or connected to a server when the ban is applied.
The timing of a ban does not necessarily indicate when the violation occurred.
Can I play Rust on another Steam account?
Creating or using another Steam account to circumvent an active game ban is considered ban evasion.
Accounts used to evade an existing ban are subject to additional enforcement action, including permanent game bans. We do not permit ban evasion.
How does an EAC ban affect my Steam account?
An EAC game ban for Rust will result in a Game Ban status being displayed on your Steam profile.
A Rust game ban does not automatically prevent you from accessing unrelated games on Steam. However, it may affect your ability to access certain Rust features or transfer associated in-game items.
Games purchased through Steam cannot be transferred to another account to circumvent a game ban.
