A fresh reinstall of Rust can help solve a variety of issues. A fresh reinstall differs from a regular Steam reinstall as Steam will not delete all files associated with Rust which could be causing you problems. A fresh reinstall will delete all Rust files from your PC before installing Rust again.
A fresh reinstall involves deleting the Rust folder entirely and then reinstalling normally using Steam.
If you did not manually set an install directory for games when setting up Steam then your Rust directory will be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust
If you are unsure on where your Rust directory is then you can locate it via the Steam library.
- Open the Steam library
- Right-click on Rust
- Press ‘properties’
- Go to ‘local files’
- Hit ‘browse’
Once you have located the Rust folder in the file explorer right-click it to delete it.
You can now launch Rust from the Steam games library to begin reinstalling Rust.
